Coffee and Counseling for College - Cafeteria

On Wednesday, March 11 at 6:45 pm in the HEHS Cafeteria, a panel of college admissions counselors will lead an active question and answer period that addresses your burning college issues.  This night is intended for juniors and their parents . Following the large group presentation, there will be FIVE breakout presentations.  Each presentation will deal with some specific aspect of the college search process.  Tentative session topics include college search resources and exploration techniques, things to look for on a campus visit, the college application process, applying to selective and highly selective schools, and the parent's role in the college search.  Each session will be offered twice during the evening. Most sessions will be lead by college admissions professionals for Illinois colleges and universities, and our own HEHS counselors.  You pick the sessions that most interest you.

Any questions, please contact Mr. Kazlusky at 847-755-5646.

Junior Job Shadowing Day - "On location"

On Tuesday, March 17, 2009, members of our business community will open their doors to let students observe them for a "day on the job" and learn more about careers they may want to pursue.  This event is sponsored by the College & Career Resource Center.  Career shadowing allows students to see first hand the day-to-day requirements of a selected occupation and to gain information and advice from a professional in that career field.  This practical experience provides insights beyond the classroom and will help students make informed decisions about their future plans.  Juniors will be given information in class in January concerning the job shadows.  Parental permission is required and students are expected to provide their own transportation.

Space is limited to the first 50 juniors to respond by Monday, January 30, 2009.

If you are in need of any additional information, you may contact our Career Advisor, Mrs. Helen Henderson at 847-755-5657.
