Teaching for different learning styles may seem difficult but in reality it is not. When we divide our lessons into the eight categories (Multiple Intelligences) we can create activities that use all learning styles. This allow students to get a better understanding of the subject matter being presented. These learning styles have been divided into eight categories. (These are the categories that are used to address the Multiple Intelligences and are adapted from "A Multiple Intelligence Inventory for Students" MEXTESOL Journal Winter, 1996 and "MI Inventory", Amstrong, 1997 AIMS Conference.
| Verbal Linguistic: Capacity to use words effectively both orally and in writing assignments. | Logical-Mathematical: Capacity to use numbers effectively and ability to reason well. |
| Musical Rhythmic: The ability to perceive and express various forms of music. | Interpersonal: The ability to perceive and make distinctions in the moods, intentions, motivations, and feeling of other people. |
| Visual Spatial: Someone that is sensitive to color, line, shape, form, space, and their relationships. | Bodily-Kinesthetic: Being able to use one's whole body to express ideas and feelings. |
| Intrapersonal: Having strong self-knowledge; accurate picture of one's strengths and limitations. | Naturalist: Being able to distinguish among, classify, and use features of the environment. |
The following are just a few of the activities that have been created to match the Multiple Intelligence model. More will be added so come back and see what we have to offer.
