IHSA Sectional Championships
Team Champions for the 2nd year in a row!
We had an awesome day as a team and as a distance crew. In all the meets I have seen and coached, this was one of the most memorable and exciting! We achieved all of our goals for the day: qualify the 4x800 and run a new school record, qualify two 3200 meter runners, have 2 solid efforts in the 800 to prepare for state further in the 4x800, and to qualify two 1600 meter runner while being as close to 5:00 as possible.
4x800 - 9:28.0 F.A.T., 2nd Place, New School Record!
2:22.8 - Gisela - Excellent and smooth lead leg! You closed the entire time! Great race!
2:23.1 - Haley W. - Solid 2nd leg that closed gaps further and put the relay in excellent position!
2:23.9 - Hannah - A mature and composed leg where you put us in to 2nd convincingly. You will fly at State!
2:17.9 - Haley G. - Out great and you defended the spot to perfection!

10:41.3 - Melissa - Sectional Champion! - New School Record- Even splits, by yourself, with a strong wind in the corner. An incredible race that had the entire meet in awe!
11:31.1 - Takshaka - 6th Place! State Qualifier as a sophomore! You came out and got the job done after not even knowing you were running until after your race on Monday! Excellent job and congrats!

2009 Cross Country Highlights
1) Qualifying to the State Meet for the 2nd year in a row.
2) 5 and 1 in the MSL West (the loss to Palatine was by 1 point!).
3) Haley Goers earning All-State as a sophomore (23rd place).
4) Takshaka Patel running 18:00 (27th place) at the state meet.
5) 3 All-MSL runners - all sophomores! (Haley Goers, 8th; Haley Worman, 14th; Takshaka Patel, 16th).
5) Winning the Lake Park Invite.
6) Winning the Minooka Flight Invite with a perfect score (7 points) and going 1-4 in the open race.
7) Winning the Oak Park River Forest Invite
8) Melissa Schmidt's record breaking performances (17:02 for 3 miles at Lake Park, 17:15 at Detweiller, massive course records at Minooka and Schaumburg's home course).
9) The consistancy of the team in regards to people stepping up when needed. Almost every meet we ran had a different top 7 line up!
10) Having 7 runners run 18:51 or faster at Detweiller at the Peoria Invite.
