DRIVER EDUCATION

PHILOSOPHY

Driver Education is intended to provide students with basic knowledge of Illinois traffic laws, regulations and safe driving procedures, as well as practical experiences in operating a motor vehicle under supervised conditions.  These programs will influence and develop driving habits for a lifetime.

Goals

1.  Provide educational experiences that will develop physical skills, mental analysis procedures, and attitudes necessary to function safely and efficiently within the highway transportation system.

2.  Develop a strong sense of citizenship by providing interpretation of the rules and regulations and the importance of compliance with them.

3.  Provide the interaction with other drivers with a strong emphasis on safe handling skills of a motor vehicle.

4.  Insure the students have reached a competency level of success before recommending licensing.

Our program meets all Illinois state requirements for driver education safety.  It consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction, including simulation. Students are required to complete driver education classroom as a graduation requirement. In order to obtain an Illinois drivers license, students must successfully complete both classroom and the behind-the-wheel phase of driver education.
